During our annual board of directors meeting, three outgoing board members and several donors shared the spotlight as we highlighted their dedication and support of CSS.

GBS Corporation was recognized as the Corporate Donor of the Year. Last October, GBS chose CSS as the recipient of its annual Year of Giving Initiative Committee award and presented CSS with a $15,000 donation to our homeless outreach center. GBS became aware of CSS through its CFO, JP Schippert, who is a former CSS employee. Schippert and CEO Michele Benson accepted the Corporate Donor of the Year Award.

The Foundation Donor of the Year Award went to the Sue & Mal Ames Fund. The fund has been a regular supporter of CSS for several years, donating $5,000 per year for at least the past five years. We are grateful for the generous legacy the late Sue and Mal Ames provided through their fund.

We also were proud to recognize the support of longtime staff members Shayne Donald and David Morris, who both have generously donated to CSS regularly over the years. Their contributions have supported funds that allow CSS to provide innovative programs that don’t receive funding from other sources, as well as our Dalton Fund, which helps provide meaningful activities for our clients. As a recovery specialist and supervisor of our geriatric team, respectively, both have seen the impact their support can make.

Also honored at the annual meeting were outgoing board members Marty Ganzer, Jon Novak and Jim Pianalto. Each served a number of terms on the CSS Board of Directors and several committees.

Ganzer joined the board in 2015 and served on the Human Resources Committee. Novak also joined the board that year and served on our Program Oversight Committee. Most recently, he was chair of the audit and finance committees. Pianalto was elected to the board in 2004 and served as treasurer, vice chair and chair, as well as a member of several committees. Most recently, he chaired the Program Oversight Committee.

All three will stay on the board as honorary members. We are grateful for their insight and guidance over the years and look forward to their continued connection to CSS.
