Community Support Services has a large team of board-certified psychiatrists to provide diagnostic evaluations, mediation management and consultations for our clients. In addition to certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, many on our team have additional qualifications in Forensic Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, or Addiction Psychiatry, and some serve as faculty at the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), Department of Psychiatry.

In order to provide optimum continuity of care to our clients, CSS psychiatrists work collaboratively with other members of the client’s treatment team. If a client needs to be admitted to the psychiatric unit of one of our local hospitals, they are treated by one of our agency psychiatrists.

Psychological Testing

CSS team members will work with clients to determine which services fit their needs.  We offer psychological consultation involving neuropsychological assessments, differential diagnosis, treatment issues, and risk assessment. Referral for psychological services is made by the treating psychiatrist.

Day Treatment

Day treatment can serve as an alternative to hospitalization for clients with active symptoms of mental illness. Day treatment provides education regarding mental illness and helps clients process current stressors.

Day treatment is offered as a three-hour session, Monday through Friday. Participants are required to attend at least three days per week.

Cognitive Enhancement Therapy

Cognitive Enhancement Therapy (CET) is an innovative program for persons with schizophrenia and other thought disorders. CET focuses on the rehabilitation of social, cognitive and neuro-cognitive deficits.

CET participants complete computer exercises and a structured group program focused on improvement of attention span, problem-solving skills and social skills. Since the program began at CSS in 2005, 85% of graduated have demonstrated cognitive gains.

Hear from CET Graduates:

“CET helps in restoring and growing in wellness and self-care. I have started and I am maintaining a part-time job.”

“After CET, my brain operates better than before.”

“CET opened up life’s possibilities. It helps you get along with others and develop friendships.”
